It is cultivated on the sandy, calcareus hills north of Asti.

Garnet red coloured with a delicate scent characteristic to resin and pepper. Dry pleasantly bitter flavour with a persistent, slightly tannic aftertaste. Best with hors d'œuvres, soups and white meats. Serve at a temperature of 15-17° C.
